GM Warns Its New Trucks Too Dangerous 2 Drive: STOP Miami - Don't Drive Your New SUV Until You Know It's Safe

General Motors has just expanded its recall of 2011 trucks and Sport Utility Vehicles -- going so far as to instruct owners to NOT DRIVE THESE VEHICLES until the problem with their rear axles is fixed at the dealership.

Seems these fancy SUVs and pick-up trucks have rear axles that can freeze, forcing the driver to lose control the vehicle. These vehicles should NOT be driven. They are defective, dangerous products out in the public roadways -- and hopefully, GM's recall will be effective to get all these trucks and SUVs repaired before innocent people are injured or killed.

From the recall itself, "Owners of the vehicles are being contacted and urged against driving the trucks until the axle pin is replaced. If the pin fractures and becomes displaced within the rear axle, the driver may hear a banging noise coming from the axle. If the pin shifts out of position, it could create an interference condition and cause the rear axle to lock. The driver may not be able to maintain directional control of the vehicle, which could lead to a crash."

Miami: warning, warning - Escalades, Tahoes, Suburbans are very popular here. Stop and consider whether you or someone you know is driving a new, sweet 2011 model (which have been available for sale for months now) that is one of the following General Motors products:

  • Cadillac Escalade
  • Cadillac Escalade ESV
  • Cadillac EXT
  • Chevrolet Avalanche
  • Chevrolet Colorado
  • Chevrolet Silverado
  • Chevrolet Suburban
  • Chevrolet Tahoe
  • GMC Canyon
  • GMC Sierra
  • GMC Yukon
  • GMC Yukon XL
Questions? You can contact the manufacturer at one of these three toll-free numbers, according to Consumer Reports:
  • Cadillac: 1-866-982-2339
  • Chevrolet: 1-800-630-2438
  • GMC: 1-866-996-9463
